Today the focus has been on content and in particular visual content. From your profile pic and your avatar through to the content you are publishing, are you sending across the right message.

Today Guy Kawasaki was talking. Guy progressed from Silicon Valley to become one of Apple’s chief evangelists, since then he has written several books, has a very popular podcast, has created several companies and has been nominated on the board of trustees for Wikimedia. As far as knowledge and experience, Guy is of pedigree.

It is important to look at your actual space on the various platforms, does your imagery portray you and your company. Ensure that the avatar is clean and clear and the background tells the story of what you do.

Guy went on to talk about Facebook and Twitter and the relating visuals. Just by adding imagery, video or pictures, to every post already you stand out from the crowd.

Facebook is still the market leader in terms of marketability, so how do you get the most out of your posts. In terms of posting a picture you have many options as to what to add to the picture and how it is positioned to get the most engagement. It is recommended that when you post an image or video you add text to the image to explain the image or your comment and add a link to the post. By doing this figures show that you double your engagement.

A common topic in #SMMW15 is the use and re-use of content and what this could do for you. It makes sense to think that if you only post one time then you are hoping that your target audience is online at that exact moment in time and they happened to see your post amongst the clutter. By re-purposing, or re-using the content, you are likely to see 3 – 4 times the engagement.

Also, go artisanal. By posting manually on all platforms you will see triple the engagement levels of posting using third party tools like hootsuite and sprout.
