There is no doubt that at this moment in time, the creation of new Mobile Apps is at an all time high - especially considering the worldwide lockdown and our increasing need for digital communication and mobile applications.  From businesses wanting to create an app to showcase their business, their products, services, locations or more, to new start-ups that believe that they have created the next billion dollars social media concept, it seems everyone wants to get involved.  And it makes sense too - especially in Dubai where smartphone penetration is higher than almost anywhere else in the world.

But once you've created an app, then what?  What do you need to do to promote and market your app so that it becomes visible to your target audience of users?

The Mobile App market in many ways reminds me of the early days of websites.  Companies (and individuals) would spend thousands of dollars on a new website and then sit back and wait for users across the world to suddenly find their website.  The mentality at that time was very much a case of "build it and they will come" and for many, the stark reality that they would actually have to work hard from a content, SEO and marketing perspective to drive visitors to the website was often a hard pill to swallow.

The same seems to apply with mobile apps.  We're inundated with requests to build mobile apps and more often than not, when we ask how the company plans to then market the app, we're often faced with a blank stare.

But it doesn't need to be difficult

Times have changed.  Even if we go back 5 or 6 years, the only options we really had to promote a new website was through either display banners or via search engine marketing.  SEO was obviously a longer play, but in reality we didn't have too many ways of driving immediate traffic and an audience to a new website.  Today, we have a plethora of options and marketing tools that simply didn't exist back then - from audience segmentation and personalisation in email marketing, and analytics and tracking, to highly targeted social media campaigns and lead generation tactics.

For any company or start-up that has developed a new app and need to drive downloads, there are a number of options available to you.  For example, all of the major social media platforms allow you to target their user bases to promote mobile app marketing.  These include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and of course Google, where you can also target a user base based on keyword searches.  We've seen tremendous results from these platforms and for a budget as small as $1,500 you can expect around 1,000 to 2,000 app downloads.
