Coronavirus: Information Center and 'Community Help' for COVID-19 on Facebook and Google

Since the global outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Facebook and Google have created information resources directed at their communities to help drive education regarding the virus as well as providing helpful tips and safety advice to help control the spread of the disease.

Within this article, I'll talk about what Facebook and Google have created, providing links wherever possible.

Facebook

Facebook recently released a chatbot on all its platforms to provide accurate and accurate news related to the Coronavirus. As an update to this, Facebook has now released features such as an Information Center and Community Help center to fight the spread of COVID-19.

The Information Centre can be accessed via a Facebook tab named "COVID-19 Information Center", which is present on your newsfeed.  In addition to important information, the access to information from well-known health organizations can also be found on this page.

Facebook's community help feature

Facebook's Community Help feature isn't new and was actually released in 2017 and has commonly been used by users in the event of  a natural or human-caused disaster. The feature has been extended for use while the COVID-19 crisis is prevalent in our daily lives.  Right now, the company is rolling out this feature in the UK, USA, France, Canada and Australia but will be accessible soon in other countries. Once available in your country, users can choose to filter posts from the community help feature. 

 

Google

In addition to the work that Facebook have done, Google have also created a special COVID-19 focused website, which is available in most countries.  The purpose of this special website is to provide complete information related to the Coronavirus, and to provide users with information related to prevention, rescue and other insights.  The website is accessible via this link: https://www.google.ae/covid19/The website also provides helpful links to organizations such as the World Health Authority amongst others.

Other important features include national helpline numbers as well as safety tips to prevent coronavirus. In addition, you can find useful video content including 5 safety tips as well as other videos provided by the Ministry of Health.  These videos describe how we can protect ourselves and others from infection. A further feature helps those of us who have many questions related to COVID-19 by providing a list of common questions related to the virus.
